The prop replica and collectibles community is vast – with as many “ready to display” products out there, you’re bound to find an almost endless supply of “garage kit” products that require the expertise of an artist to bring it to life in all its glory.
Artisan FX specializes in taking your unfinished model kit, garage kit or virtually any three dimensional object, big or small, and handing all the trimming, cleanup, assembly and paint for you. Weather you’re too busy to do it on your own, lack the necessary equipment and materials or just have zero experience with these sorts of things – we’re here to help!
Here is a quick overview of what we can do for you:
Raw kit trimming and assembly
Be it a factory-made styrene model kit or an independently made resin garage kit, models and props need a bit of TLC before it can go to paint.
Some of the tasks include:
- Thorough cleaning of all parts
- Trimming, sanding and refining “flashing” – which is a necessary byproduct of the casting process
- Assembly of necessary parts in coherent order using a variety of materials
While we’d like to take on everything out there, some independently produced kits may be too damaged from a poor casting. Please contact us with photos and ask if your kit is appropriate for our service.
Multi-process finishing
Every job is unique! One might require one or two simple colors while others might require a more complex paint scheme such as aging and weathering effects.
We know what materials and processes are right for each job. Once we’ve evaluated your piece for finishing, we’ll work with you to determine colors and, if needed, go over any reference material you provide us with to replicate a certain look.
Some of the tasks included:
- Prepping the surface for proper paint adhesion
- Simple to complex masking of areas for multi-color areas
- Professional Auto body grade products and equipment for Primer, Base Coat and final Clear Coat
Custom Fabrication
So you have this awesome collectible and want something a little extra special for it – such as a display stand or a full size display cabinet for a collection of items….we can build it for you! All completely custom, one of a kind to your specs.
While we are not currently a vendor for resin kits, our Master Craftsman is perfectly suited for creation of museum-quality display stands, cabinets and if you need it – full size set pieces and furniture.
